Passing
Passing is a continuous photographic study of a Lower East Side street in New York City, observed from a single apartment window. Although the space contains two windows, the camera always returns to the same one, maintaining a consistent frame as the street below changes. From this fixed vantage point, pedestrians, cars, light, and weather move through the image, appearing briefly before passing out of view. The subjects remain anonymous and unposed, unaware of being observed. Rather than focusing on individual stories, the work documents the rhythm of everyday life as it unfolds beyond the private interior. By limiting both movement and perspective, Passing emphasizes time, repetition, and impermanence — how the city continues regardless of who is watching.
